Roses Along the Wall: The Story Behind the Painting
"Roses Along the Wall" was painted by the artist in honor of my maternal grandmother, an avid grower of roses and a devout Catholic. The roses depicted in this painting grow alongside a church near Santa Fe, New Mexico. Roses are among the most beloved flowers throughout the world and symbolize both romantic love and maternal love. Rose petals, rose oils and rose perfumes have been in high demand for millenia. This painting creates a striking contrast between the softness and delicacy of the abundant pink roses and the earthy stucco and dark blue stained glass windows of the church.
