Cascading Flowers: The Story Behind the Painting

I was given a bouquest of flowers and decided to paint them at an unusual angle. As I worked on the painting, I decided to fill in with more flowers...and then more flowers...until I had filled almost the entire canvas. These flowers are very sculptural, with petals that are textured much like real flowers.

This painting was done just before spring, when I was looking forward to the summer and the flowers to come. I'm not much of a winter sportsman, so once Christmas is over, I'm ready for spring! The variety of both spring and summer flowers and contrasting colors in "Cascading Flowers" creates a cheerful painting perfect for just about any room!
